A Serological Teat for Syphilis among Prostitues

Abstract
A serological test for syphilis among prostitutes were made to find the degree of treponemal infection.
For this study sera were collected from 1, 206 prostitutes of Seoul, Incheon, Euijeongbu and Yangjoo from November 27 to December 7, 1972 and were examined through VDRL slide qualitative test and quantitative test.
As the results of this study the following conclusions were obtained.
1. The reactive sera were 7.9 per cent out of 254 prostitutes in Seoul, 8.2 per cent out of 317 in Euijeongbu and 7.2 per cent out of 254 prostitutes in Seoul, 8.2 per cent out of 317 in Euijeongbu and 7.2 per cent out of 328 in Yangjoo with average reactive value of 7.2 per cent out of 1,206.
2. The prozone phenomenon was not appeared in weakly reactive sera.
3. The hightest reagin tier was 1:32 serum dilution in one case.
